The short rib was fantastic and my partner said the scallops were the best she's had in Ottawa. It's not loud or stuffy, just a relaxed atmosphere where nobody blinked at a dog lying under the table. Parking was easy to find nearby too, so it made for a stress free night out with the pup.

It's really a world class restaurant, that deserves at least a couple Michelin stars but I'm happy to have this gem to ourselves. The inventiveness and attention to detail were really on another level, and the food was delicious. Standouts for me were the coconut styrofoam (it truly has a styrofoam-like texture but it melts in your mouth, and the texture of the fish was shatteringly crispy and delicate, and the carrot cake at the end because I love cardamom and that dessert had so much going on but it all worked together so well. Truly all the dishes were amazing, and the beverages and service were also fantastic. If you're looking to treat yourself, Atelier shoud be on your list.

Really wished a 4.5 rating was possible. Wasn't as amazing as my last visit there so couldn't give it the full 5 but I was still happy we went. It's a big price tag but we did have a memorable and enjoyable evening. Limited the photos because the visual delight is part of the fun.

I dined here and I only got a *7 course meal*. The photos posted here and the steller reviews all seems to be about the 40 course meal which seems to have existed a year ago. I think they have cheapened their menu overtime. I don't believe there's the option to tell them you want the 40 course meal versus the 7 course meal since the waiter specifically told me about the seven course meal and didn't give me another option. Also everyone sitting in the same room as me was getting the same dishes. The only menu you get to see prior to your meal is the drink menu. The actual dishes seems to be predefined by whatever the chefs have prepared. You also get to choose if you want a drink pairing to your dishes. The options are: full pairing of non alcoholic drinks ( which means you get a new drink for every dish you get, in my case, it was a seven-course meal so I got seven drinks to compliment the dishes ), or full alcoholic, or half alcoholic pairings. *The drink menu you get at the beginning is separate from the drink pairings*. I had to specifically ask to confirm that. I got a separate non acoholic drink which was $15. There were two, both were $15. If you had had chosen a cocktail, it would be $20. They have other options too but I wasn't interested in those. The non alcoholic drink pairing I got ( which is called placebo pairing) is $125. The actual dishes (called tasting menu) was $250. The photos posted by other people a year ago are waayyy more extravagant than what I got. My photos include everything I got there, which is way less than what seems to be included in the reviews from last year. You can also see from my menu ( that you only get at the end of your meal), it is waay more simple than the ones other people have posted a year ago. I came here because of those photos, but if I knew I would get a 7 course meal that looked like my photos, I would not have come here. The staff are all really professional and nice. The decor is minimal and clean. The flavour of the food is pretty bland, the only dishes that were "decent" was the bread and butterflies (Japanese milk bun and flavoured butter); and black wreath ( duck breast) which are Japanese and Chinese inspired. The rest I believe are supposed to be Canadian dishes, which honestly tastes exactly what you would expect out of a high-end western restaurant. Pretty bland and basic flavours, nothing to miss out on. The drinks were pretty good but this is also my first time ordering proper drinks from a restaurant so my opinion in drinks probably isn't the most refined. If you are used to eating at restaurants where there is actual spunk flavors like Asian restaurants, don't eat here at least not the 7 course one. Maybe the 40 course version is as amazing as the reviews make it to be but I suppose you can call them to ask if they are offering the 7 or 40 course version

YumYak's take
Atelier is No. 54 on Canada's 100 Best 2026: a $250, seven-course modernist tasting menu. Hours, booking and what to expect, from public sources.
Marc Lepine’s modernist tasting-menu room, No. 54 on Canada’s 100 Best 2026 and on the list 11 times since 2015, per the restaurant.
- Order: The seven-course blind tasting menu ($250 per guest)
- Best for: Adventurous diners and milestone dinners
- Skip if: You need a vegan menu (the restaurant says it cannot provide one) or a quick meal
The background
Canada’s 100 Best 2026 ranks Atelier No. 54 and describes chef Marc Lepine’s food as “precise, complex, delicious and sometimes strangeโฆin concept, but never in flavour.” The blind tasting menu has run through many concepts, once more than 40 dishes; it is now seven courses.
On its own site, Atelier lists 11 appearances on Canada’s 100 Best between 2015 and 2026, eight on OAD’s Best Restaurants in North America, and Lepine’s Canadian Culinary Championship wins in 2012 and 2016.

What to order
- The seven-course menu: the only option, $250 per guest (official site). Canada’s 100 Best’s example dish is snow crab under coconut “Styrofoam” and a green curry sheet, which Lepine calls “surface tension.”
The menu is blind and changes, so treat this as an example, not a promise.
Before you book
The format is fixed: seven courses over about three hours. The kitchen is not allergen-free and doesn’t offer a vegan menu, so anyone with serious allergies should look elsewhere.
