Finding the correct elevator was a little confusing, but once we arrived, we were excited to be there and kept an open mind. The setting had so much potential. We were enjoying the wonderful music, stellar skyline views, and a lovely conversation when, just before our mains arrived, a group seated nearby changed the atmosphere entirely. Their conversation was exceptionally loud, making it difficult to enjoy our own company without inadvertently becoming an audience to theirs. By the end of the evening, I knew where one of them worked and the story behind their matching bracelets. Information I never asked for and could happily have gone my entire life without knowing. What made this particularly disappointing was that the atmosphere had been lovely before their arrival. We hadn't been struggling to hear one another or finding the restaurant excessively noisy. The sudden disruption was noticeable enough that other tables nearby also appeared to be affected. When I mentioned our experience to the server, she explained that the tables were in close quarters without a wall separating them. However, that didn't quite reflect what we'd experienced. The setting had been perfectly enjoyable until that particular group arrived. I understand that a restaurant cannot control every guest's behaviour, but it's still disappointing when one table's volume significantly affects the experience of others. On a more positive note, the service was excellent. Every staff member we interacted with was wonderful, attentive, and welcoming. The Leaf was a delicious non-alcoholic drink, and I'd happily recommend it. We also tried the empanadas, with the corn and cheese being our favourites over the chicken. My Arctic char main was alright. Not exceptional. I could see the thought and effort behind the concept, and I appreciated the intention. Ultimately, the staff are the reason this experience gets three stars. The concept is unique, the views are beautiful, and there is clearly a lot to appreciate. However, ambience is a huge part of the package, particularly when you're paying for what you hope will be a special evening. We arrived excited and left disappointed. I wish the evening had lived up to its potential, because the setting, music, and service had all been contributing to a wonderful experience until that point. If you're looking for a calm, sophisticated evening where you can enjoy good conversation and the atmosphere around you, I'd suggest keeping this experience in mind before choosing this venue. Definitely not ideal for a date. P.S. - How do they have multiple 5-star reviews from a month before they opened?

My husband had the bone-in ribeye and I had the arctic char. Started off with some empanadas and ended with the chocolate torte. Wonderful. Our server, Nicole, was engaging, friendly and didn’t rush us at all. We’ll be back!

The beef empanadas, polenta fries, and mixed greens salad were sooo good! Definitely coming back! We also appreciated the 2 hours of validated parking. No regrets here.

I chose a Spanish red wine, but I have never witnessed such an unprofessional wine-opening service. Even the red wine glasses on our table had visible water stains. We ordered three empanadas, but only one was served. Having to share a single empanada between two people was awkward and simply unacceptable at this price point. As for the steak, it was acceptable, but nothing more. Winnipeg has plenty of excellent steakhouses tucked away in different corners of the city, and many offer a far better dining experience. To sum it up, service: 1/10; food: 7/10; environment: 6/10. The revolving view may be the restaurant’s biggest selling point, but if all I wanted was a spinning experience, I could have a glass of whisky and make every meal feel like it’s revolving. A unique location can attract customers once, but poor service and mediocre food won’t bring them back. Not worth the money. Not recommended.

From the amazing new menu, the food, drinks, service, and most importantly the views! It’s great to have such an iconic restaurant back, and being operated by true professionals in the hospitality industry- well done! Highly recommend!!

YumYak's take
Argentine dining in the former Prairie 360 space on the 30th floor of Fort Garry Place.
Dos Pampas Skyline opened on Oct. 9, 2026, on the 30th floor of Fort Garry Place, in the space Prairie 360 left empty in 2020. Restaurateur Alfonso Maury, formerly executive chef at Prairie 360, runs it with head chef Norm Pastorin. The menu is Argentine-inspired.
- Order: Empanadas to start, then a ribeye with chimichurri
- Best for: A special-occasion dinner with a view of downtown
- Skip if: You want a late dinner early in the week; it closes at 9 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday
The background
The room at the top of Fort Garry Place opened as the Royal Crown in 1988 and became Prairie 360 in 2013. Access Winnipeg reports that the revolving mechanism has not run since the last restaurant closed, and that the plan is to bring the rotation back. Either way, the 30th-floor view of downtown is part of the draw.

What to order
- Empanadas: beef, bison and prosciutto, roasted chicken, or creamy corn with béchamel and cheese
- Artisanal provoleta (grilled provolone) or the Gaucho chorizo board
- Steaks: bone-in ribeye, ribeye cap or New York strip
- House-made ravioli, bison and prosciutto or smoked salmon and shrimp
Menus change, so treat these as examples, not promises.
Plan your visit
Book through OpenTable. Access Winnipeg reports that the floor is not yet revolving; the owners hope to bring the rotation back.
