I was hearing so much hype from friends that have been to Toronto hahah 😀 This place is quite different than the places in Calgary, I’m not sure if it’s…I was hearing so much hype from friends that have been to Toronto hahah 😀 This place is quite different than the places in Calgary, I’m not sure if it’s traditional- more like fast food kind of style imo.🌯 Really enjoyed the boutine… chunks of beef and lamb smothered in a bunch of sauce… covered in feta cheese… my back… is expanding… salty, savory, sour, crispy… fyre 🔥 We also got something they called “bites” I think, which is like a wrab cut up and served with fries and your choice of sauce. I think they use cavendish fries with their own seasoning, there’s also fries in the wrab which is interesting. It was just fine- personally, I was missing some of that freshness that I’m used to but I get it since it’s a different style. Mango smoothie was also pretty good, very mangoe-y lol 🥭 Staff was super inviting and helpful, would definitely like to visit again to try their other items.

The only restaurant in canada that will give you a THERMAL bag to store your food in to keep warm. The whole experience was amazing, so was the food. 10/10 highly recommend

Shelby’s, the Ontario shawarma chain that started in a food trailer in Lambeth in 2015, opened its first restaurant in Western Canada on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026. The new location is at 9110 Macleod Trail SE in Calgary, and it is also the brand’s first in Alberta. The chain now has more than 50 locations, according to its press release.

Friends Yazan El-Shalabi and Yasser Ali started Shelby’s by selling chicken shawarma made to their mother’s recipe from a food trailer in Lambeth, Ont. The brand grew across Ontario and beyond, and Ali, known online as Shawarma Man, has a big social media following. The company says Calgary is a starting point and that it plans more Alberta locations in the coming years.
