Fun, cool new kid in the mile end block. Peak steak frites. Best fries I’ve had and that pepper sauce is sooo rich I’ll remember its flavour for a while.…Fun, cool new kid in the mile end block. Peak steak frites. Best fries I’ve had and that pepper sauce is sooo rich I’ll remember its flavour for a while. Wines by the glass could be a larger list but the bottle list is nicely varied with old and new school wineries. Fun service and cool, updated take on the 90s upscale Bistrot that gives a familiar feel while remaining current. Take your Brooklyn-vibe pals here if you want to impress them.

I’ve been a long-standing fan of Menu Extra and Chef Francis Blais, so I couldn’t be happier to see him open a restaurant of his own. The food was nothing short of incredible, a beautiful homage to traditional French bistro cuisine, with every dish feeling both classic and thoughtfully executed. We started the evening with a gorgeous spread of oysters served over a bed of ice, accompanied by freshly grated horseradish, lemon wedges for squeezing, and, of course, mignonette. The evening began the moment you walked through the door, where you were greeted by waiters dressed in RW&CO’s new signature Chemise uniform, serving up platters of chilled glasses of dirty martinis. For dinner, I had the opportunity to try their ficelle baguette in collaboration with Automne Boulangerie, pâté en croûte, saumon à l’oseille, filet aux poivres with frites, mousse au chocolat, and tarte tatin with homemade crème fraîche ice cream. Every bite was a celebration of French bistro classics, and I’m so excited to see what Francis does with this new chapter. Bistrot Frankie officially opens its doors to the public on October 12 and I have a sneaky feeling that it’ll be a full house 7/7!
Decor was nice, but that's about where it ended. Service felt disorganized and the food was slow across the board, even the entrees (one of which was just oysters). Mains…Decor was nice, but that's about where it ended. Service felt disorganized and the food was slow across the board, even the entrees (one of which was just oysters). Mains took a long time too. My steak frites was over-seasoned and the fries were way too salty. My friend's duck à l'orange wasn't good either. The pomme purée was grainy and broken instead of smooth. The trout entree was actually decent though. They also completely forgot our bread and butter. For 150-200$ I expected a lot better. Not sure how this place is rated so highly. Maybe off night? Don’t really like leaving bad reviews but this was genuinely disappointing.
Fantastic service and very accommodating 🙏🏼- food was excellent!

Bistrot à Franky is the first restaurant he has opened under his own name; The Main gave Oct. 12, 2026 as its opening day.
The 80-seat white dining room was designed by Zébulon Perron, with director Xavier Dolan as art director, The Main reports. The room is almost entirely white, with red seating and original artwork on the walls.
What to order
- The permanent five: an omelette, salmon with sorrel, sole meunière, chicken in vin jaune and filet au poivre stay on the menu year-round, per opening coverage.
