We tried a few cocktails and mocktails, and every single one was well-made and full of flavor. If you’re going there, do yourself a favor and order the Michelada. It was hands down one of the best I’ve had and definitely the highlight of the evening. For food, we ordered the tacos and enchiladas, and both were absolutely delicious. The tacos were packed with flavor, and the enchiladas were rich, fresh, and incredibly satisfying. Everything tasted authentic and was presented beautifully. The service was friendly and attentive even though the restaurant was quite busy. One piece of advice: make a reservation before you go. This place gets packed, and getting a table without a reservation can be tough. Overall, an amazing experience from start to finish. Great drinks, delicious food, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend Sombra to anyone looking for a fantastic night out.

A Mexican restaurant and tequila bar in Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake, opened in spring 2026 by Juan Pablo and Jessica Londono, who run Taco N Tequila on Stanley Avenue in Niagara Falls.
- Order: Ask about the tequila list and the day’s specials; Sombra has not published a full menu online
- Best for: Dinner before a Shaw Festival show, or a group night out in Old Town
- Skip if: You need a guaranteed table on a busy night; book ahead
The background
The Niagara-on-the-Lake Advance reported in April 2026 that Juan Pablo and Jessica Londono had opened Sombra at 10 Queen St. The couple own and run Taco N Tequila in Niagara Falls, where Juan started in the kitchen and worked his way up to manager before they bought the business.
Juan told the paper they picked Niagara-on-the-Lake because the town had no Mexican restaurant and strong foot traffic. Destination Niagara describes Sombra as an elevated take on Mexican dining with a full tequila bar, a room with rustic wood beams and terracotta tones, and a patio for warm weather.
What to order
Sombra has not posted a full menu online. Destination Niagara’s photo of the restaurant shows guacamole served in a stone molcajete with tortilla chips and fried plantain. For the rest, check the restaurant’s Instagram or ask your server. At Taco N Tequila, the owners’ Niagara Falls restaurant, the Advance names spicy shrimp tostadas, house-made tacos, enchiladas verdes, fajitas and steak a la diabla among the dishes it is known for. We have not confirmed which of these are on Sombra’s menu.
