We thought the value was excellent! Our toddler had so much fun watching the sushi go around on the conveyor belt, which made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. It's such a fun and family-friendly spot, especially if you're dining with little ones. Good food, reasonable prices, and a fun atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

YumYak's take
Zumi, a new kaiten (conveyor-belt) sushi bar at 1588 Alberni St., opened in October 2026 with pay-by-plate nigiri from $4 and a 12-seat cedar counter.
A kaiten sushi bar that opened in October 2026 at the foot of the Alberni by Kengo Kuma tower: nigiri plates ride a belt around a cedar counter and you pay by the plate.
- Order: Chutoro and uni plates off the belt, then anything the belt doesn’t carry from the counter
- Best for: A quick sushi dinner, solo meals at the counter
- Skip if: You want lunch; it opens at 4 p.m.
The background
Daily Hive reported that Zumi would open on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026. On Instagram the restaurant calls itself “Vancouver’s first revolving sushi bar”. The same Daily Hive story notes that Sushi Aboard, another conveyor-style spot, closed on Sept. 7.
The room is set around a single cedar counter. Per the restaurant’s site, seasonal branches by the door are meant to recall a Tokyo kaiten-ya.
What to order
- Off the belt: the official menu lists plates such as hamachi ($4), salmon ($5), tai ($5), maguro ($6), chutoro ($6) and uni ($8).
- At the counter: 12 cedar counter seats where you can order what isn’t on the belt.
- To go: Zumi To Go packs nigiri boxes and hand rolls.
